Gregory Ferrell Lowe (Ph.D. 1992, University of Texas at Austin) is Professor of Media Management, Economics and Entrepreneurship and Director of the Executive Education Program at Northwestern University’s international campus in Qatar. Dr. Lowe was previously Professor of Media Management and Economics at the University of Tampere in Finland (2008 – 2017) where he established the first graduate studies program in the discipline.
He has worked in the professional market as Senior Advisor for Corporate Strategy and Development at the Finnish Broadcasting Company, Yleisradio (1998 – 2007). In that capacity, Dr. Lowe was tasked with helping facilitate the transition to digital media systems for the Radio Division, and appointed Director of the company’s first Program Development Department which he designed.
Dr. Lowe served two elected terms as President of the European Media Management Association (emma 2012 – 2016) and was Chairperson of the World Media Economics and Management Conference (WMEMC) in 2020-2021. In October 2024 he was elected for a two-year term as President of the International Media Management Academic Association (IMMAA).
Dr. Lowe has edited and published 12 anthologies since 2002 and published 35 authored or co-authored journal articles and book chapters related to managing media companies with specific expertise on public sector institutions.
