Zvezdan Vukanovic is the Associate Director of Media Management at the Columbia Institute for Tele-Information, a Member of the Executive Board of the International Media Management Academic Association (IMMAA), and an Associate Professor at University Canada West, currently the largest private university in Canada by student enrollment. He previously held a postdoctoral research position at the Marshall McLuhan Center for Media Culture and Technology, Faculty of Information, University of Toronto.
Dr. Vukanovic formerly served as Associate Professor at both Canadian University Dubai and Abu Dhabi University. He is the author, co-author, editor, or co-editor of 17 books, 82 book chapters, and numerous peer-reviewed journal articles in the fields of media management and media economics, including publications in the International Journal of Media Management and the Journal of Media Business Studies. Vukanovic’s scholarly work also extends to various international conference proceedings.
He has delivered 25 invited keynote presentations at prominent institutions such as MIT, the University of Toronto, the University of Westminster (London), and Fordham University, among others. In addition, Vukanovic has organized or co-organized 50 international conferences across areas such as media management, media economics, media regulation and policy, media business, mergers and acquisitions, media innovation, technology, and industry competition.
His research interests focus on the influence and impact of the exponential algorithmic development of artificial intelligence on Beta Economics; the role of AI in (a) reshaping information market asymmetries, (b) transforming scalable industries—such as software, internet, semiconductors, telecommunications, e-commerce, and media—and (c) accelerating product life-cycle compression.
Dr. Vukanovic is the first author and editor of the International Who’s Who in Media Economics, Media Management, and Internet Media Economics Research. He also serves as a referee for several leading academic journals and publishers, including Springer Science+Business Media, the Journal of Digital Media & Policy, Convergence: The International Journal of Research into New Media Technologies, New Media & Society, Management Communication Quarterly, Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly, and the Journal of Media Economics.
