Gregory Ferrell Lowe [Chair]

Gregory Ferrell Lowe (Ph.D. 1992, University of Texas at Austin) is Professor and Director of the Executive Education Program at Northwestern University’s international campus in Qatar.  Dr. Lowe was previously Professor of Media Management and Economics at the University of Tampere in Finland (2008 – 2017) and Senior Advisor for Corporate Strategy and Development in the Finnish Broadcasting Company, Yleisradio (1998 – 2007). In 2000, he founded the RIPE international initiative for the development of public service media that has produced 12 biennial conferences and edited or co-edited 12 subsequent anthologies. Prof Lowe was twice elected President of the European Media Management Association (emma 2012 – 2016) and served as President of the World Media Economics and Management Conference (WMEMC 2018 – 2021). He is currently President of the International Media Management Academic Association (IMMAA 2024-2026). Dr. Lowe has expertise in media management, economics and entrepreneurship, and is a renowned scholar in the field of public service media. He has published dozens of articles in influential journals and is currently editing the Routledge Handbook of Public Service Broadcasting (forthcoming early 2027).
