Pablo J. Boczkowski, Hamad Bin Halifa Al-Thani Professor, Northwestern University

“Digital Freud: The Use of Technology in Mental Health”

This seminar was organized by Steve Wildman, Research Fellow, Quello Center on Media and Information Policy and Professor Emeritus, Michigan State University and former Director of the Quello Center.

Professor Boczkowski will present and discuss his work on examining the transformation of the work of mental health professionals in relation to their adoption of technology. This work builds on his previous book Digitizing the News, which explored journalism and examines some of the same recurring themes, but now focuses on mental health clinicians at a time when the prevalence of mental illness has become a global health issue. His talk will elaborate on the nexus of work, technology, health, and policy.

Pablo J. Boczkowski is Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani Professor in the Department of Communication Studies at Northwestern University. He is Founder and Director of the Center for Latinx Digital Media at Northwestern, and Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Center for the Study of Media and Society in Argentina at Universidad de San Andrés in Buenos Aires.
